Before ovulation, estrogen levels rise.
High estrogen levels:
triggers LH surge (luteinizing hormone).
OPKs (Ovulation Predictor Kits) detect
the surge of LH (luteinizing hormone) hormone.
24-36 hours after the LH surge
ovulation usually occurs!
Ovulation is the term used to describe
the process of an egg(s) being released from the ovary
24 hours after ovulation,
the egg must be fertilized
(sperm penetrates egg and begins cell division
which is the beginning of baby's life).
To become pregnant,
intercourse is recommended
within 2 days after the LH surge
(positive OPK).
Note: If your menstrual cycle is typically
longer than 40 days or shorter than 21 days,
you should consult your physician for the recommended day to start testing,

You may test at any time of the day at your convenience,
however, late afternoon seems to be the most popular time.
You should test at approximately the same time each day.
Do not consume an excess amount of liquid for at
least 4 hours prior to performing the test,
to avoid the dilution of LH in your urine.
