The Cervix
Tunnel between Vagina and Uterus
These are pictures of
the end of the cervix
that hangs down into the vagina.

The opening
of the cervix
is called the "Os".

After ovulation
the os closes
to protect a
possible pregnancy.

The cervix drops
before and after
ovulation.

The os opens and
the cervix rises
(almost out of reach)
at ovulation
to allow EWCM
to flow out
and sperm to enter.

The sperm travels
through the Cervix into and
up through the uterus
towards the fallopian tubes.

    Checking Cervix
  • The cervix is similar in appearance
    and structure of the penis.
  • The cervix hangs down into the vagina.
  • The opening of the cervix is called the Os.
  • Conveniently, our middle finger is
the same length as our vagina.
  • When attempting to check your cervix:
    • first wash your hands,
    • squat with buttocks on your ankles
    • gently insert middle finger
      into the vagina
      up towards your belly button.
      You should
      be able to reach your
      cervix to feel
    • if it's open or closed
    • soft (like your cheek)
    • hard (like your nose)
